Nineteen Months Old

Well, I was really hoping to have my computer back by now, but . . . no.  But I did realize that I had posted a couple of pictures on Facebook that I could copy to my blog (since I can't retrieve pictures from my camera with Don's computer).  So, here they are.

Our little guy is 19 months old now and keeping us very busy.  He's going through a "tantrum" phase, but is also learning a lot, talking more and interested in so many things.  I got him a Betta fish this weekend, "Missy," because he's very fascinated by "shi," which is his word for "fish."  He also says "doggy," and really likes every dog he sees, including ours, who he calls, "Bubba."

A proud moment came for me recently when he pointed to my cross necklace and said "Jesus."  I have been reading him Bible stories since he was just a few months old, and we had recently read about Jesus dying on the cross.  I guess it's sinking in, which is very encouraging.

He loves playing outside too, though it's been so hot lately, we've had to limit it to early morning and late evening.  That's fine with him, since he loves fireflies, which we read about regularly in a couple of his books, and we sometimes stay outside until they come out.  I've also planted a little garden, and we are enjoying watching things grow.  Hopefully we'll have some good homegrown veggies before too long.

He's very interested in fire trucks (which we also read books about), and we have a fire station just a block from us.  We walk down and see the fire truck sometimes or watch it go by our house with its siren on.  He also points out every fire plug (or "fire hydrant," for you non-Southerners) when we go for walks.

Okay, enough bragging.  His personality is really developing, though, and there is much to tell.  Though he wears me out some days, I am so very thankful for this little boy, this gift that God has given us.
