"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." Genesis 2:24
One of the things that has come up in this election campaign is the issue of gay marriage. "It won’t bother me if other people want to live that way," is the thought that some people may have, but I believe the more accepted that homosexuality becomes in our society, the more prevalent it is going to be, and it will eventually affect all of us. Textbooks in public schools may even begin to define marriage as being the union of any 2 people who care about each other. How are you going to feel the day your son comes home with a boyfriend and mocks the "old-fashioned" idea that you wanted him to marry a woman? What about those grandchildren you wanted? They’re not likely to happen if your children "marry" someone of the same sex.
God clearly designed marriage to be between a man and a woman. Anything else is fornication. Homosexuality is detestable to Him (Leviticus 18:22).
As a side note, I do believe in "hating the sin but loving the sinner." God doesn’t call us to hate people who are homosexuals. We are all sinners, and God loves us anyway and instructs us to love each other as well.
God gives us commandments for a reason. The further we stray from them as a society, the more corrupt we become and the greater the consequences of our sin are going to be. I believe as Christians we have a responsibility to fight to keep these things from becoming legal or even accepted in our country.
The only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good to remain silent.
